Be - Do - Have

I came across a book recently that stated, what i felt, was a very valid yet simple point in life. There are too many people too insistent and too particular in how they appear outwards that they neglect that substance is more important, while form is only transient.

This can be simply surmised in three words~ Be - Do -Have.

People by large love to appear larger than life. They worry how they are perceived by others. They do senseless things to earn recognition from others. Be it envy or be it greed, it is through wealth and status that people strive to be better than the other.

A little pay rise or little windfall sends these people buying stuff they do not need, cannot afford in the first place, or have problems managing it later. For when emotions rise, logic recedes...

All problems arise because they DO things or HAVE things to appear affluent. I have seen too many people driving posh cars and hankering for branded clothes, just so they could appear successful to others.

But are they really rich and successful?

People who are really successful do not flaunt their wealth. Their money is spend and earned and spent again, only to build their empire and improve their lives. Sure, some of them may be living in big houses, but not all of them drive posh cars. They spend only when needed to.

A friend of mine who is working as a sales assistant in Nokia once said..

"There are 3 kinds of people that walk into the shop... The people who cannot afford anything will ask to try the most expensive models but not buy anything....

The people who can afford the middle range of products will buy the top end models in hope that they can flaunt it, thinking they just bought some status...

The really rich ones will buy the most practical model that suits their needs, even if it is the cheapest model in the shop. They are only looking for functionality."

Need we say more?
